The majority of up market,
luxury and Midrange travelers prefer to get all the hard work dealt and done
with before they arrive for their safari. By booking either through Rwanda Gorillas Safaris or directly with safari tour and travel companies, this practice is very
good as it also ensures that you'll be able to secure accommodation with a spot
at the more famous, luxury and high quality service lodges, especially during
peak seasons when places start filling up months and months in advance since
that’s the time when most people is on a holiday. However, if you're going for
the cheapest route, were you’re working on a tight budget and every penny spent
is a penny felt, then it is often much cheaper to arrange everything on the
ground after you have arrived.
Most safari tour and travel
operator’s price their safari itinerary with each safari package having
quotations that a covering; park entrance fees, full board accommodation with
bed, breakfast, lunch and dinner, transport costs from the pick up to the
various parks and the airport transfers, and the costs of fuel, vehicle plus a
guide / driver, game drives and other activities, relevant government taxes and
all meals as stated in the itinerary. Extra Drinks (whether alcoholic or not)
are generally excluded though boxes of water for the whole safari are included.
Price quotes usually assume double occupancy, with supplements for singles
ranging from 20% to 50% of the double-occupancy rate.
However most midrange safaris
use lodges, where you’ll have a private room and eat in a buffet-style at the
dinning or have meals in courses. A disadvantage is that they may have somewhat
of a packaged-tour or production line feel. Private lodges, luxury tented camps
and even private fly-in camps are used in top-end safaris, all with the aim of
providing highly personalized experiences without foregoing any comforts. Most
budget safaris are camping trips that keep to a no-frills setup with basic
meals and a minimum number of staff.
